Description: A gold
color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height
overall consisting of the shield and crest of the coat of arms.
Symbolism:
The shield is red with a diagonal
band in gold, representative of Field Artillery and honorable
service. The crest denotes courage and willingness to defend the
country.
Background:
The distinctive unit insignia was
originally approved for the 35th Field Artillery Regiment on 1 April
1933. It was redesignated for the 517th Field Artillery Battalion
on 15 August 1949. It was redesignated for the 35th Artillery
Regiment on 4 November 1958. It was redesignated for the 35th Field
Artillery Regiment on 1 September 1971.
